- First hand information
Samuel Stallard was born about 1745 in Essex County, Virginia. In about 1762, he migrated North with his family to northern Culpeper County, where he married Jael Duncan about 1770. In 1779 he sold his Culpeper land and followed his wife's family southwest to what was then Russell Co., VA, settling near Dungannon along the Clinch River. He and his family are buried at the Stallard homeplace. There is a memorial marker on the site of the family burial plot overlooking the river.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Oct 10 2023, 20:09:00 UTC
