Notes

  • The marriage of Joseph Adair and Sarah Lafferty seems to be recorded in the records of Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Church in Wilmington, DE, which were published in 1890 by the Historical Society of Delaware. The exact entry is in September 1746 under "Joseph Eldare to Sara Luffirty" on page 398. While the church was Swedish, it was common for the church to minister to recent Scotch Irish immigrant who had no other church to turn to in Wilmington. Note that Joseph's first son, James, was born in December 1747, according to his tombstone in Indiana.
