Selah was among the first settlers in Mayfield, New York. The town was for the greater part laid out on Seleh's land. Seleh became a Sergeant in "Captain Little's Co." 3rd regiment under Colonel Fisher during the American Revolution. On 1/28/1823 Seleh deeded all his land to the Methodist church, a plaque still stands today.
