Tabitha is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parnell Wilkenson. She married Stephen Bishop, May 4, 1654, Guilford, CT.

They had nine known children all born in Guilford: Stephen Jr., Tabitha, Caleb, Daniel, Mehitable, Hannah, Josiah, Ebenezer, and James.


Stephen Bishop, son of John and Anne Bishop, b. prior to arrival of his parents in this country. Neither the place nor date of his birth has been found, m. in Guilford, May 4, 1659, Tabitha Wilkenson, dau. of "Widow Parnell Wilkenson," formerly of Bermuda Islands. Bebecame a planter in 1649 and a "freeman" ten years later. His name appears as one of the patentees to the Charter for the land at Guilford, by action of the General Court, Dec. 7, 1685, and which was signed by Robt. Treat, Governor, and by John Allyn, as secretary. He appears to have been prominent in all good deeds, d. Guilford, June, 1690 and his widow d. Dec. 21, 1692.

Although this person was likely interred in Guilford's original village cemetery (now the commons and public park in downtown Guilford), no surviving gravestone was known in 1818 when all gravestones at the Village Green, but not the people's remains, were dispersed to other town cemeteries.
