Susanna Brumbaugh (Linn)

Per Susanna's Death Cerificate she was born on September 14,1839 in Grovania, Pennsylvania.

Per family records Susanna (Susan) married David B. Brumbaugh on January 19, 1861.

Per the 1850 Census Susanna, 11, was living with her parents Simon, 45, and Rebecca, 42, and her siblings: George 17, William 16, Henry 14, Rebecca Linn, 13, Simon 9, Maria 7, Daniel 5, John 1 month, and her grandmother Elizabeth Linn, 91, in Montour Township in Columbia County, Pennsylvania.

The 1860 Census lists Susan and David as living in Cass Township of Huntington County, Pennsylvania when Susan was 21 and David was 26.

The spelling of the Brumbaugh name is as it appears in the 1870 Census stating that David was 36 years old, being born in 1834, and Susan was 31 years old, being born in 1839.

The 1870 Census lists them as having two children, a boy and a girl, at that time: Clara 11 and Irvin 3.

The 1880 Census lists Susan, 41, and David 47, as living in Penn Township, Huntington County, Pennsylvania with their children Clara, 21, Irvin 13, and Agnes 5. A George Johnston, 18, was also living with the family as a farm laborer.

The 1900 Census lists Susan, 62, and David, 68, as living Penn Township, Marklesburg borough, Huntington, Pennsylvania with two borders Frank Myers 24 and Agnnes Myers 25. Agness Myers is believed to be their daughter Agnes. Frank Myers would have been her husband. David Brumbaugh was employed as a Farmer.

The 1920 (January 19, 1920) Census lists Susan Brumbaugh, 79, as being widowed and living in an Alms house (poorhouse) in Mahoning Township, Montour County, Pennsylvania. The Alms house was run by a George Fry, 51, and his family.

Susanna Brumbaugh died on January 23, 1924 in Danville, Pennsylvania. She is buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville. She spent her last days (4 months) as a resident of the State Hospital of the Insane in Danville, Pennsylvania.
