About Susanna “Susie” Jantzen (Voth)
Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 4, 1957:
Susie Jantzen, beloved wife of Enoch Jantzen, and our mother was born August 25, 1897, near Halstead, Kansas, and passed away in our home in Winton, Calif. at 11:15 p.m. January 23, 1957, reaching the age of 59 years, 4 months and 29 days. Death was due to heart-failure. Mother with her parents (Tobias and Julia Voth) moved to Coy, Okla., where she grew to womanhood and received her education. On September 10, 1914, she joined in marriage with me, her husband Enoch Jantzen, at Alva, Okla., sharing joys and sorrows for 42 years. To this union were born 13 children, 7 daughters and 6 sons. At the age of 25 years mother felt her lost condition and through faith and forgiveness of her sins was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. After living at various places in Kansas, we moved to Winton, Calif., in the year 1945 where she finally fell asleep in the Lord. Mother always was of a calm and peaceable disposition, vey kind and friendly to visit with, and often expressed her concern for the salvation of her dear children, as also the welfare and blessings of the church, especially stating that our life is so uncertain and that we always should be ready for Jesus would come soon. We weep, but not as such that have no hope, for we firmly believe that Mather is sweetly resting with Jesus. She leaves to mourn her departure, her deeply bereaved husband, as also Helen, Mrs. Marlin Smith, Cimarron, Kansas; Clarence, Burns, Kansas; Lorena, Mrs. Harley Smith, Cimarron, Kansas; Gracie, Mrs. Alvin Koehn, Livingston, Calif.; Edna, Mrs. Pete Giesbrecht, Winton, Calif.; Samuel, Cimarron, Kansas; Alvin, Livingston, Calif.; Johnny, Glenn, Calif.; Curtis, Winton, Calif.; Julia, Mrs. Homer Koehn, Galva, Kansas; Goldie, Mrs. Albert Koehn, Glenn, Calif.; Franklin, who is stationed with the Army in Germany; Susie Ann, Mrs. Elton Koehn, Galva, Kansas. Five daughters-in-law, seven sons-in-law, 32 grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Her parents and two grandchildren preceded her in death. All of her children were privileged to be at her funeral with the exception of Franklin, who could not come. Her funeral was held in our meeting house in Winton at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, January 29, 1957, with a very large crowd in attendance, to show their last respects for the deceased. Bother Min. Edward Jantz made the opening remarks and led in prayer, after which Brother Min. A. T. Koehn read her obituary and selected the following scriptures from which he brought a very consoling message to all present, Foci. 12:5; Matt. 24:42-44; St. John 14:1-6. The remains were taken to the Winton Cemetery for her last resting place, where a small service was conducted by Brother Edward Jantz. A poem submitted by the family follows,
I seem to hear God speaking Come unto me and rest, I'll take you home no more to roam, For I know what is best.
Thy labor done, your crown is won, For you have stood the test, Don't weep for me for I'm at rest, In Heaven among the blest.
But Oh! Dear children labor on, In God's good work today, Pray often to your Saviour dear, For He will lead the way. The Family* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jan 9 2021, 15:47:07 UTC
