Charts: Adam Brouwer: Descendants Chart
Sybrandt Brouwer was said to be born on 29 August 1683 at Brooklyn, Kings Co., Long Island, New York.3

He married Sara Webber, daughter of Aernout Webber and Jannetie Cornelis, at Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York, on 12 May 1706 (banns 10 May 1706).4
Sybrandt Brouwer probably died on 3 December 1727 according to Hoffman (TAG 24:24) who states, "for on these dates the records show that a Sybrandt Brouwer died; one of these dates applies to this man (the father), the other to his son." Totten (NYG&BR 56 [1925])) assigns the earlier date to the father, and the later date to the son. Sybrandt was clearly dead by 15 May 1737 when is wife is called a widow at the baptism of their grand-daughter Sara Brouwer.2,5
He was probably buried on 5 December 1727 at Gowanus, Kings Co., New York.1,5

Another early source says he was born 6 May 1683 (R.W. Vosburgh, who questions the accuracy). The F.J. Hill manuscript on Anneke Jans says born 29 Aug 1683. Neither date can be confirmed by any church or other records, no baptism record has been found. Sybrandt was a bricklayer and became a freeman of New York 6 Aug 1723. He and his wife had eight children baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church of New York.

He witnessed the baptism of Aarnout Quackenbos , son of Benjamin Quackenbos and Claasje Webber, on 15 January 1707 at Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York, (sponsors Sybrant Brouwer, Rachel Webber).6
In an indenture dated 30 Apr 1707, Sybrant Brower of Brooklyn, "eldest son and heyre to Jacob Brower late of said township deceased," conveyed to Abram Brower and Nicholas Brower, both of Brooklyn, for two hundred and twenty pounds, "his fourteenth part share" in the Gowanus property formerly occupied by Adam Brower. Sybrant Brower signed with his mark.7
Sybrandt Brouwer witnessed the baptism of Jacob Brouwer , son of Jacob Brouwer and Petronella de la Montagne, on 24 September 1710 at Old First Dutch Reformed Church, Breuckelen (Brooklyn), Kings Co., Long Island, New York, (witnesses Sybrandt Brouwer, Antje Brouwer).8
Sybrandt Brouwer witnessed the baptism of Reynier Quackenbos , son of Jacob Quackenbosch and Anna Brouwer, on 29 March 1719 at Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York, (sponsors Sybrandt Brouwer, Dievertje Woertendyk).9
Hoffman in "Brouwer Beginnings" (TAG 24:24) adds a very long footnote to the sketch of Sybrant Brouwer. He states that the information found in Geneal. of the State of New Jersey, by Lee, regarding Sybrandt's son Jacob is entirely wrong, and that "similiar, and even worse, information is contained in the Newark Evening Journal, no.4925" regarding this same family. Hoffman states that the "very inaccurate Harlem Register by Toler..." is "...utterly unreliable" regarding its description of descendants of Sybrandt Brouwer.2
