About Sylvester Adams
Sylvester Adams was born 1760 to John and Susan (Wood) Adams in Halifax County, Virginia.
Sylvester married Rebecca Boyd of Halifax County on 2 September 1792 in Halifax County. Rebecca was the daughter of Patrick Harrison Boyd, Jr. and wife of Halifax, Virginia, who died 1782. Sylvester and Rebecca after marriage petitioned the Halifax, VA, court for her share of her father's estate. Sylvester was the leader of his relatives who, between 1805 and 1808, moved to West Tennessee, settling in Humphrey County. (Part of the entourage included the orphaned children of his brother Richard.)
Sylvester and Rebecca had thirteen children. The sons in order of birth were John, Samuel, Sylvester, Thomas, Boyd, William and Ichabod. The daughters whose birth order is not known were Martha, Sarah, Susan, Isabella, Rebecca and Ann.
Sylvester Adams died in Humphrey County, Tennessee, on 2 March 1830.
