May 05,, 1660:: Tabitha Kendall is born in Reading,, Massachusetts. She is the 9th of 11 children born to Sgt.(Deacon) Thomas Kendall and Rebecca Paine,,, 10 girls,, followed by a boy(Thomas). Young Thomas dies in his 1rst year as did one of the girls.
To preserve the Kendall name,, each of the remaining daughters,, including Tabitha,, gave the name to their eldest son,, giving rise to the following verse by Lillie Eaton of South Reading::
She had 10 daughters;; and each one,,
When married,, christened her first son
Kendall;; and thus we may infer,,
Why 'tis these names so oft occur.
