In the biography of William Beardsley, Orcutt states: JudgeSavage says among the children not named were William and Thomas, butof this William no evidence is found."

The Orcutt history appears to make sense of the will of Capt. John Beardsley, where he makes provision for "kinswomen Deborah Fairchild". Orcutt states "The word kinswoman and kinsman was used in those days in several instances of persons known to be nephews and nieces, and therefore it is concluded that Deborah, who m. Alexander Fairchild, was thedaughter of his brother, Thomas Beardsley, of Stratford, who died in 1676 {NOTE: I believe this date is a typo as on the next page in thebio of Thomas Orcutt gives the death date as 1667 jgdb} . . ." <ref>[https://archive.org/stream/BeardsleyGenealogyTheFamilyOfWilliamBear...] Holt genealogy, page 7 </ref> Orcutt speculates that Thomas and his wife, Elizabeth, obtained lands by inheritance from his father William Beardsley, thus explaining why there are apparently no records of either Thomas or Elizabeth purchasing the land. <ref>[https://archive.org/stream/ahistoryoldtown01conngoog#page/n635/mode...]Orcutt History of Stratford, Vol II, page 1132. </ref>
