Thomas Dragoo Gough

Son of Byram Gough & Martha Dragoo Gough Married Alitha Catherine Flesher Dec 29, 1837 in Lewis County, WV. In a story printed in "Pioneer History of Wirt County" tells a story of Thomas. It said that Tom Gough caused much trouble to the union soldiers stationed in and around Spencer. He was shot at many times, but was never wounded. It was often remarked that Tom led a charmed life. Tom Gough did not serve in the regular army, but gave much valuable aid and information to the Southern cause. He was a scout and found out many things in advance. Many years after the war farmers on Three Forks section would often find musket balls while working their farms and they would remark "there is another bullet the Yankees fired at Old Tom Gough" There is a simular story in the "History of Roane County" written by Bishop. It states the farmers on Left Reedy said the same thing about Tom and the musket Balls.
