About Thomas Livingston Montgomery
The funeral of Thomas Livingston Montgomery at the little city of that name was one of the largest affairs of the kind ever held in Fayette County. The dead man's popularity was equaled by none and the thousands that flocked to do honor to his name yesterday was a touching tribute to the deceased and a source of gratification to the bereaved family. It is estimated that over 1500 people, non residents of Montgomery were present, coming by trains, on engines, in carriages, boats, etc. from that whole section. The Montgomery and up the river lodges of Masons, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias and American Mechanics. .. being about eight hundred or more in line.
The body was buried in the Family Burying Ground in the Montgomery Cemetery.
On May 10, 1944, Thomas Livingston Montgomery was moved from this cemetery to Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston - to rest beside his wife, Elizabeth Kirkwood "Lizzie" Montgomery.
