Disputed origins

Thomas Swift was born about 1605 in England. Savage stated, without evidence, that he was the son of Robert Swift of Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. Anderson identified Dorchester, Dorset, as his place of origin; this is where he married and where his first recorded child was born.

His sister was Mary Swift, who married Robert Sumner.
