In a telephone interview with Laura C. Katz on October 25, 1999, Tillie's daughter Shirley Pine said that Tillie and her husband Louis were first cousins. (Louis' mother and Tillie's mother Faya were sisters.) In a later interview (November 2, 1999), Shirley said that at the time of her mother's naturalization (1925), the family lived at 1925 Crotona Avenue in the Bronx. She also said her mother was born in 1898, which is confirmed by her Naturalization Certificate which states her age on November 20, 1925 as 27. However, cemetery records show that Tillie was 36 years old when she died on January 9, 1936, indicating a birth date sometime in 1899. That would be consistent with passenger ship records, which give her age as 6 when she came to America in March, 1906.
