Walenty (Valentine) PIONEK (1847-1917) who was born in Pob³ocie, s³upski, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland/Prussia is my great-grandfather who came to Chicago, Cook County, IL in 1878 and later was joined by his wife Augustyna (Gustie) HEJNIK who came from Poland on the sailing ship Hohenzollern in 1881. Before 1892 the family moved from Chicago to Hull Town, Portage County, WI. with children Frank, Walenty Jr., and Rosa. My grandfather Martin and twin brother Joseph were later born in Hull. The 1900 United States Federal Census has recorded their names and address and arrival to the USA. The 1910 United States Federal Census has recorded their names and address. Walenty is buried at Saint Casimir Cemetery in Hull at the Church he helped build down the street from the family farm along the Wisconsin River.

. Valentine Peonke, aged 65, died at his home in the town of Hull Saturday morning after an illness of four days, death being the result of pneumonia.. Mr. Peonke was born in Germany and came to this country when he was about 25 years of age. He was a resident of Chicago for about 12 years after which he located on the farm in the town of Hull where he had resided since.. Mr. Peonke is survived by his wife, Augustina, and nine children, of whom Joseph and William reside at home and Frank in this city.. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9 o’clock from the Casimir church with interment in Casimir cemetery.. ........................................................................................................................
