1 September 1619: Charter by King James VI to William Lord Kilmaurs, his heirs and assignees of the barony of Finlayston and Ranfurly, Cunningham, lying in the county of Renfrew and 20 pound land of Stevenston with the castle, fortalice etc. of Kerlaw in the bailiary of Cunningham, and which had been apprised from James Earl of Glencairn father of Lord Kilmaurs by James Cunningham of Eschenyards for the sum of 5260 merks conform to decree of apprising dated 10th February 1615 (assigned by him to umquhile Alexander Cunningham of Craigends and redeemed by William Lord Kilmaurs from Wiilliam Cunningham of Craigends, son & heir of said umquhile Alexander Cunningham of Craigends) and to which Decree and Charter of Apprising following thereon his Lordship had acquired right conform to the legal reversion and right of redemption.
