October 1569: Feu Charter by Robert Commendator of Quhitherne and the chapter thereof to Adam Cunynghame of Dunlophill brother german to William Cunynghame of Caprington and Janet Stewart spouse to the said Adam, of the 16 merkland of Powtoun occupied by Gavin Hannay, John McCarnik, John Bowtoun, Gilbert Mertyne, Mertene Houchane and [ ] Broun lying in the parish of Craggletoun. Wit:- Peter Cunynghame, Adam Gibsoun N.P. and Thomas Wodderheid. Signed by granter. tag, no seal. There is another charter of same date, granter and grantees and lands as described above, resigned on 16th September into the hands of the Crown, with precept directed to George Stewart. At Glasgow. wit:- John Maxwell in Cowglen, David Fresall and Adam Cunynghame son to the minister of Failfrud. Signed by granter and Dom. George Steinsoun subprior Dom. John Kay Dom. John Stewart Dom. 20 May 1574: Instrument of Seisin in favour of Alexander Earl of Glencairn, son and heir of William and grandson and heir of Cuthbert Earls of Glencairn, in the 5 merk land of Langmuir the lands of Alton Tilwood and Newlands (Lambrochton Third Part "Twa Hills") and annualrent of 2 shillings payable from Newlands, all lying in the barony of Kilmaurs and formerly wadset by Cuthbert and William Earls of Glencairn to Hugh Earl of Eglinton deceased (See GD39/1/36) and redeemed by the said Alexander Earl of Glencairn from Hugh then Earl of Eglinton [mentioned in the precept William Cunningham of Caprington, son and heir of the late John Cunningham of Caprington, Adam Cunningham brother german of the said William, witnesses to the instrument William Cunningham in Irvine], grandson and heir of the said Hugh Earl of Eglinton proceeding on a precept from Chancery dated 20 May 1574. 2 January 1578: Charter by which George Campbell of Cessnock confirms that he has given a liferent of certain lands in the lordship of Cessnock and sheriffdom of Ayr to his future wife, Agneti Cunynghame, daughter of William Cunynghame of Capringtoun. His charter was confirmed under the Great Seal of Scotland on 1 March 1582-83. RMS 1580-93: charter number 525

6 September 1662: BIRTH BRIEVE with the authority of the Privy Council in favour of Adam Cunningham (who is intending to travel to Germany), certifying that the late Adam Cunnyngham, a lieutenant of a company of soldiers in Germany, the father of Adam Cunningham, the bearer of these presents, is descended from Alexander Cunningham of Cullelan in Scotland, and Joanna Maxwell, daughter of the baron of Newark, his father and mother ; and the late Alexander Cunnynghame of Cullellan, and Issobella Mure, daughter of (Sir) Adam Mure, knight of Rowallan, his granfather and grandmother ; and the late Sir William Cunnyngham of Capringtoun, baron and knight (whose fourth son the said Sir Alexander was), and Jonet Hamiltoun, daughter of Sir William (Hamilton) of Sarn, knight his great-grandfather and great-grandmother ; and that the said lord of Capringtoun and his progemitors come of the very noble and powerful family of William, Earl of Glencairne, Lord Cunyngham and Kilmaweris, the chief of the family of Cunnunghame, and chancellor of Scotland.
