Per Donald Lines Jacobus in Families of Old Fairfield (1976 edition):
Son of George and Mary Hubbard of Guilford.
He bought land in Greenwich, 1658, and in 1663 owned also in Stamford. In 1683 he bought land of his son John Austin in Greenwich. In 1684, called "Sr.", he conveyed to sons George and William. Perhaps he m. Catherine, widow of that first John Austin who d. at Stamford 24 Aug. 1657.
Will of William, Sr., of Fairfield, 10 Oct. 1702; son-in-law Jacob Patchen, Exec'r; son-in-law Thomas Bennett; son William, meadow at Greenwich; residue equally to daus. Mary Patchen and Sarah Bennett. Witnesses: Thomas Jones, John Thompson, John Meredith. Inv. 7 Nov. 1702.
Children:
- George, b. [say 1663].
- Mary, b. [say 1666], d. at Wilton, 25 Mar. 1754; m. (1) by 1689, Samuel Grumman, of Fairfield; m. (2) by 1692, Jacob Patchen.
- Sarah, b. [say 1668]; m. by 1688, Thomas Bennett, of Fairfield.
- William, b. [say 1670], d. in 1723; m. Hannah Mead.
Jacobus notes in a footnote that William's mother Mary was "Not Bishop, as usually stated."
Note that the "son" John Austin referred to is his stepson through Catherine, John Austin, Jr..
