

6/15/2020 edit. William Longley sued the Town of Lynn in 1661 because he had not been given 40 acres granted to early inhabitants. The court procedings had several long-term residents testify that the name "Richard Langley" had been written down by mistake decades ago when the grant was made, and that William Longley was the only Langely or Longley living in the town. He was awarded a choice of 40 acres or the money. A
Some published sources state that Richard Langley must be either William's father or brother, but no proof has ever been found.

He was probably the William Longley christened at Firsby on Jun 2,1614, the son of William Longley and Ann (Pearson) Longley.
Children: William Longley Jr, Hannah Longley Tarbell, John Longley, Ann Longley, Mary Longley Leman, Elizabeth Longley Blood, Lydia Longley Nutting, and Sarah Longley Rand Watts.
