William Pearse

Served in the military between 1775 and 1783 in the Revolutionary War.

William Pearse (some records show Pearce) was born September 18, 1715 at Bristol, Bristol County, Massachusetts (now Rhode Island) to Richard Pearce and Sarah Humphfrey (dau. of Samuel and Mary Humphrey).

He married Lydia Brown on January 9, 1741 at Barrington, Bristol County, Massachusetts (now Rhode Island). Lydia was born in 1724 at Bristol, the daughter of James Brown III and Elizabeth Hunt Brown.

Children of William and Lydia were:

• Sarah Pearce, b. 21 Dec 1742, Bristol, R.I. ; d. Aft 1807; m. 1761, Doctor Thomas Munroe.
• George Pearce, b. 15 Sep 1744, Bristol, R.I. ; d. 13 Jan 1775, Bristol, R.I.; m. Hannah Freeborn.
• Susannah Pearce, b. 31 Aug 1746, Bristol, R.I.
• Elizabeth Darling (born Pearce) b. 20 Jun 1748, Bristol, R.I.
• Lydia Clark (born Pearce) b. 20 June 1748, Bristol, R.I.; m. Abt 1770, __ Clark; m. 2) John Darling.
• William Jr., b. 4 May 1750, Brist., R.I.

William, the father, died at the age of seventy-two September 5, 1788 at Bristol and was buried there in the Juniper Hill Cemetery. His wife Lydia died in 1801 and is also buried in the Juniper Hill Cemetery.
