STILL RESEARCHING:
Birth: 1760, Ireland Death: 1856 Union, Monroe County, West Virginia, USA
THIS WRITE UP IS FROM FIND A GRAVE - I HAVE NOT VERIFIED IT. William Brice Rice was born in Ireland and not wanting to follow in his father footsteps in the weaver's trade, he immigrated to America in 1780. His ship floundered at sea for three weeks and finally arrived in New York with the crew and passengers half-starved. He and others were taken in by families in New York until they could recover from their ordeal at sea. Hearing of homesteading opportuinites he set course for Virginia and settled in what is now known as Monroe County, West Virginia. He married Elizabeth White, who was said to have descended from nobility and they produced many children. If the dates I have for him are correct, he lived there until the ripe old age of 96. My best guess is that he and wife Elizabeth are interred in Dropping Lick Cemetery, but i am told that many grave markers at this cemetery have long since vanished due weather and time.

Verified Children Through finding of William Rice's Will via Monroe Co. Virginia APRIL 1843: John Rice, James Rice, William Rice, Robert Rice: Daughter Catherine Foster (and) likeways the children of my daughter Sally Sprowle - so Sally died prior to the writing of the will April, 1843.
Wife: written as Betsey Rice (Which is a very common nickname for Elizabeth) so I think it's inline with both sources
