Biography == ==
William Wilson, a son of David Wilson, was born in Ireland November 16, 1722 and died in Hardy County, VA June 12, 1801. He married Elizabeth Blackburn in Ireland. Elizabeth, a daughter of Archibald Blackburn, was born in Ulster, Ireland February 22, 1725 and died in Hardy County, VA September 2, 1806.
The family came to Philadelphia in 1737 and then moved to Shenandoah County, VA and then to Hardy County. They were accompanied by two cousins, John and William White. Both cousins were killed by Indians.
Both were buried in the family cemetery on their farm, now known as the "Old Meetinghouse Graveyard". The cemetery is located on the east bank of Trout Run on the E. W. Garret farm (1970), one mile southwest of Wardensville on State Route 55. It is related that a public road once passed by and there was a meetinghouse or church at the cemetery, but there is no trace of either today. The graves of William, Elizabeth and two year old son, Moses, were originally marked by rough field stones with crude but legible lettering of names and dates. <ref>Billie Jo Runyon and Don Norman, Descendants of David Davis Wilson, Descendants of David Davis Wilson at hackerscreek</ref> <ref>Find A Grave, database and images, memorial page for William Wilson (16 Nov 1722–12 Jun 1801), Find A Grave Memorial no. 23452940, citing Wilson Cemetery, Wardensville, Hardy County, West Virginia, USA ; Maintained by Audrae Turner Mathis (contributor 46573432).</ref> <ref>N.
