Yaakov (Jack) Safern

Before his career in computers, Jack worked in Hachshara as a "raftan"/farmer -- both in NJ and Kfar Darom. He remembers traveling to Israel the night after Shavuos. ("I later got a bill from the boat company – for some furniture, but it was others who tried using my name!") After Kfar Darom he spent a few months in Kfar Avraham and enjoyed his visit with Zalman and Bertchen. Bracha remembers that they liked him too!

Jack respected his mother's request and returned to NY where he worked in electronics and in computer programming. He was a great help to his mother. It was only after her death that he met his "Shoshanat Yaakov". Together they served as great role models for the nieces and nephews. Shanni was born on Purim and they would host the annual family Purim costume party.
