Families of San Isidro, Nueva Ecija

WANTED: SAN ISIDRO-BASED PROJECT COLLABORATORS

Families of San Isidro, Nueva Ecija

From pre-Spanish times up to the present, despite political, social and economic changes, the family has remained the basic unit of San Isidro society. No amount of Westernization brought about by almost four hundred years of Western domination could break the close family ties that bind parents and children together.

Sideco House

Vallarta Street, San Isidro, Nueva Ecija (entry for Philippine Heritage Homes)

The Crispulo Sideco (also known as "Kapitang Pulong") house in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, was built in the 19th century (Floral period in the Philippine colonial architecture; ogee arches, filigreed wooden panels, grilles wrought in curlicues and floral and foliate designs abound in the house as basic structural elements or as ornaments).

The house had been the seat of General Emilio Aguinaldo's First Philippine Republic when he established it as his headquarters in San Isidro during the last part of his odyssey from the American forces.

When the Americans occupied San Isidro, the Sideco house served as the headquarters of Col. Frederick Funston who would later capture General Aguinaldo in Palanan, Isabela. General Aguinaldo's capture is said to have been planned in this house.
