Official Website

Hale County was established following the end of the American Civil War, on January 30, 1867. It is named in honor of Confederate officer Stephen Fowler Hale. The first American settlers in this area had been southerners migrating from Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and the Carolinas.
