The Holst Surname
There are several families in the Scandinavian countries using the name Holst. They originate in Denmark, and the name means Holsteiner, "from Holstein", now a province in northern Germany. Some families from Holstein have used that as their surname. It is unclear whether some of these lineages have common ancestry.
