The Holst Surname

There are several families in the Scandinavian countries using the name Holst. They originate in Denmark, and the name means Holsteiner, "from Holstein", now a province in northern Germany. Some families from Holstein have used that as their surname. It is unclear whether some of these lineages have common ancestry.

Aim - Mål

This project aims to collect the various lines of Holst families, and explore whether some of these are connected.

  • Add the oldest/earliest Holst in your line
  • Add profiles of famous Holst-people

DNA Project

Y-DNA tests can clarify whether the various Holst lines are connected. Males with a direct paternal line to a Holst can test.

Geni.com and FTDNA collaborate to offer tests!
