"Keri,

We have communicated before about problems with the Sherwood Family tree and the fact that some individuals occasionally attempt to post a parent(s) for Thomas (1585). This is simply an update that i would ask you to forward to all GENI collaborators if you can do that.

I spent two weeks in England two years ago, looking at over 500 Parish records that are generally not located on electronic database. I was not able to find the parental or birth record for Thomas of Fairfield (1585-6) or Thomas of Stratford (unknown, but probably around 1610).

Next month, Geoff Sherwood, and I are collaborating on another trip to Suffolk and Essex Counties, England, but this time to look at older Manorial Roll records between 1300-1600, in hopes of locating information on the Sherwoods. We are certain that Thomas was born in the area between Ipswich and Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, down into Essex County.

The reason I mention this to you is so that your GENI group understands that continued research efforts are being made to find the birth location and parents of Thomas Sherwood - - - but there is no proof of his birth that has been found up to this time. His only known and proven locations in England were that he married his first wife Alice Tiler who was born in Hitcham, Suffolk, England, and that 6 of his eight children from his that marriage marriage were baptized in approximately 3 miles from Hitcham in Kettlebaston, Suffolk, England.

You may also find it interesting that we have three co-administrators in the "Sherwood Project" of FTNDA, and we are making fascinating DNA connections of modern day Sherwoods back to both of the two Thomases."

The above inspired me to create this project. Hopefully, it becomes a tool and/or source of information for all.
