Our Dobbins history begins around Kiddeminster, Worcestershire, UK in the early 1400s with 1st generation Guy Dobyns. In the 9th generation Daniel Dobyns b1653 emigrated to the USA and took up roots in Essex County, Virginia. He died 11Feb1713 about age 60. Havent found info on a wife, but he had a son, Charles Dobyns b1703 and died 16Nov1760. Haven't found info on Charles Dobyns wife, but there was a son Samuel Dobyns b15Jun1738 d29Dec1781. They continued to live in the Essex County Virginia area. Samuel Dobyns has a son Dangerfield Dobyns b30Nov1765 who was a school master in Virginia for 40+ years. He owned land there but sold it and moved to Jefferson County Indiana toward the end of his life. After puchasing a 165 acre tract of land he abruptly died, leaving the sale finalizing to his wife. A son was born from that union, William Dobyns b1800-ish d09Oct1840 who had been raised in Indiana. When William Dobyns married and had a child the spelling was registered as George Washington Dobbins, b7Jul1830 d3Sep1913, wehere began our Dobbins lineage. George Washington "Red" Dobbins was a Private in the Union Army's 68th Kentucky Enrolled Militia, Company E in 1864. He migrated to the Bitterroot Valley, south of Missoula, Montana, and settled near Stevensville. George was 14th generation Dobyns/Dobbins. We have good records of Dobbins family expansion from there. George was one of 11 children to William Dobyns.
