Lightner Genealogy and Lightner Family History Information

The surname Lightner was originally Leitner or Leutner, and they were from Germany. My first documentation of my family line began with the birth of Wlihelm Leitner in 1655 in Rheinland-Pfalz. He died in 1735, also in Germany. His son Adam Johannes Leitner came to America and settled in Chester (now Lancaster) Pennsylvania, USA. The family is well documented, including doctors, politicians, teachers, and many well known members. The third mayor of Lancaster, PA was Nathaniel Feree Lightner.
