About the Register surname

Trying to find info on my great grandfather Abner Register born abt 1847 in Alabama. Married Nancy Osborne in Florida had my grandfather James William Register May 22,1880. St Andrew Bay Florida. I can not find when Abner died or what happened to him. I can’t find Abner Registers parents they are from NC or SC. Depending on which census is right.
