South West Times Bunbury WA St 10 Apr 1920; Obituary: MR. A. C. MITCHELL.

Universal regret was expressed when it was known that Mr. Andrew Chamney Mitchell, of Newlands, had on Thursday morning passed away at St Omer's Hospital, Perth. The deceased gentleman who was in his 47th year has been a resident of the Preston District for practically the whole of his life, where he has been engaged in farming and grazing pursuits.

A single man, Mr Mitchell made many friends among the residents of the South West and he was looked upon as an upright, genial and hardworking man. His association with a large number of organisations formed for the benefit and advancement of the district and State, and the sound advice he was able to give will he sadly missed. Especially so, will he be missed from the committees of Agricultural Shows, in which organisations he took a keen interest so far as exhibits of horses and general stock was concerned.

His father, beside whose body he now lies, was one of the oldest of the pioneers of the State and did much his lifetime to advance the progress of the Colony.

The remains were conveyed by rail to Messrs W. Brittain and Son's private mortuary from whence the funeral left at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. The remains were interred in the family grave in the Church of England portion of the old cemetery, the Rev. Canon Adams officiating. The pallbearers were: — Messrs. C. Reynolds, Alf Teede, W. H. Kaeshagen, F. Caporn, A. R. Foreman and J. Cooper.

The chief mourners present were the brothers, James Owen, Graves, Valentine, Clement and nephews; Charles Nicholson, S. C. Mitchell, Edward Courthope, Cyril Courthope Clayton Mitchell, and Glen Mitchell.

A large number of mourners who had been fast friends of the deceased journeyed to Bunbury to witness the last rites over their friend and a number of beautiful wreaths were laid upon the grave expressive of silent sympathy.

Included among the wreaths were those from : —Brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws ;
Agnes and Fred ; little Aggie, Winnie, Jessie, Annie and Alwin; Chrissie Mitchell (niece); Mitchell family; Lilly and Val ; nieces and nephews (Donnybrook) ; Mr. and Mrs. Snowball (Donnybrook) ; Mrs. Flaherty, Florry and Edie.
