Jabez Baldwin, son of Zebulon Baldwin and Hannah Lyon, was born January 1, 1763 in Spencer, Worcester Co., Mass; married HANNAH TUCKER. He died May 10, 1844 (81) in Sandy Creek, NY and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek, Oswego Co., New York.

Children were: Julius (8/17/1786), Stephen (c1793),Hannah (1793), Israel (1795), Zebulon (1800), George (1803), Sidney (1806) and 1 other.

He was: Service DescriptionL 1) drummer for Capt. Cutler, Col L. Drury; also Pvt. Capts Herrington, Tucker, McNoll, Fish. 2.) Colburn, Grout, Huntington, Cols Tyler, Hallitt, McClelland.

Jabez Baldwin, with his wife and first children, made the arduous trek from Massachusetts to the wilds of Oswego County, NY. The earliest settlers had built cabins in the Sandy Creek area only six years before. Sandy Creek records report his arrival with this simple sentence" Jabez Baldwin settled three miles west of the village in 1809."
