About Robert Allen, of Rehoboth
Robert Allen, believed to be a son of George Allen and his first wife, was born in England. In 1645, he is known to have served for thirteen days in the war against the Narragansett Indians. Robert, who appears to have remained single throughout his life, committed suicide on 15 May 1661 in the home of his elder brother, John, at Rehoboth in the New Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts (now within Bristol County, Massachusetts).
Robert Allen was the son of George Allen of Sandwich and brother of John Allen of Rehoboth. The few records for Robert show that he was in Sandwich between 1642 and possibly 1661, when he died he had cows and steer in Sandwich. He was a soldier from Sandwich in the "late Expedition against the Narrohiggansets (Narragansetts) & their Confederats" in 1645. Robert committed suicide at the house of his brother, John Allen. The verdict in an inquiry into the death 15 May 1661 of Robert Allen brother of John Allen of Rehoboth, was that "hee came by his death by laying violent hands vpon himselfe", 22 Apr 1662.
