About the Apperson surname

The Apperson surname was formerly mentioned in records as Epperson, but was originally Epernon, the family having immigrated from France to America in the late 1600's. They first settled in Virginia and my line eventually emigrated to Tennessee sometime after 1830. The Epernons' were an affluent and notorious family in France and married within other prosperous families there.
