I am a decentant of Robert Lee Gayle, Sr. from Summertime, SC, Clarendon County. He was married to Martha Elizabeth Holladay Gayle. They had 4 children; Robert Lee Gayle, Jr., Sarah Gayle Shuler (Ralph)-Holladay, Maria Louise Gayle-Risher, and John Hamlyn Gayle.
Trying to find out who my Grannie Martha Elizabeth Gayle's parents were.
I'm going to continue to find out if she came from Gloucester, England with my Granddad or he met her in the states. I do know the Gayle family was a prominent and prosperous family in England, Scottland, and Ireland. Will give more information as I receive it.
Robert Gayle, Sr. and 6 brothers who fought in the Revolutionary war with Gloucester Militia in Virginia ranging from Privates to Lts to Capts, Majors to Cols. I've found most of the Gayle side, but just starting on the Holladay side. Would appreciate any help.
