Introducing Profile Revisions

Posted March 2, 2011 by George | One Comment

Last summer we introduced the ability to view revisions on Geni, and shortly before Christmas we added the ability to view and revert text revisions for profiles, surnames and projects.

Today marks our next major “revisions” release:  profile revisions.

When you click on the revisions tab for a profile you will see this interface, which allows you to view the revision history and revert to previous values for each of the profile fields displayed.  A green cell indicates that the field was changed during the revision, and a red cell indicates that a field is not the same as the most current revision.

If you wish to make changes you can select your preferred value for each field by clicking the data within that field (you can only select one value per field), then update the profile accordingly by clicking ‘Use Selected Values’.

To make it easier to see what changes have been made to profiles you manage and follow, we also added revision details to the master revision list on the logged-in home page:

Revisions have been a popular feature on Geni, and these additional features are intended to make it even easier to collaborate on the world family tree.
