More Tips for Getting Family Involved in Genealogy

Yesterday, I wrote a post about encouraging your family to participate with genealogy. The feedback I received was “We want more tips!” I heard you loud and clear, so here are a two more tips for getting your family more involved with genealogy.

Show Them Interesting Relationship Paths

Once your family is connected to the world family tree, you can display paths from your family to really interesting people. Once you show them how they’re related to a few kings and presidents, they’ll be much more interested in the possibilities of genealogy.

Start Them Off With a Project

If you give your family something specific and simple to start with, they’ll feel less overwhelmed. The project could be as simple as “Add photos to the Smith family” or “Add marriage dates to the Miller Family.” Something along those lines is much more manageable than the whole of genealogy.

If you have more genealogy tips, feel free to post them in the comment section below.
