Henry Brooks Adams was a journalist and was keen on exposing political corruption. He was appointed Professor of Medieval History at Harvard in 1870 and is considered to have been the first to conduct historical seminar work in the United States. John Davis Lodge was an American actor turned politician, he was 79th Governor of Connecticut from 1951 to 1955, and U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Argentina and Switzerland.
