Elizabeth Cady Stanton

On July 19, 1848 the Seneca Falls Convention, opened in New York, launching the women’s right movement in the U.S. Organized by abolitionists Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, the convention was the first of its kind to be held in the United States. It was at the convention that Stanton was first introduced to Susan B. Anthony. Together, Stanton and Anthony drafted the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits any citizen to be denied the right to vote based on gender. Although introduced in 1878, the amendment wasn’t ratified until 1920, finally granting women the right to vote. How are you related?
