Mary, Queen of Scots

On December 8, 1542, Mary, Queen of Scots was born. Mary was the only legitimate child of King James V of Scots. When she was just six days old, her father died and thus, she ascended to the throne. Queen Elizabeth I saw Mary as a threat to her crown and had her imprisoned for nearly twenty years. She was later tried and executed for treason for her involvement in a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth.
