Happy birthday to the Duke of Cambridge! Today Prince William turns 36.

The Duke of Cambridge was born on June 21, 1982 at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. The Prince was the first royal heir to be born in a hospital. Since then, all three of his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were also born at the same hospital as their father.

The tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, when he was 15 years old had a lasting impact on the royal heir. He has not only continued his mother’s charitable work with HIV/AIDS aid and prevention, but has also championed greater understanding and open discussion of mental health issues.

The British royal family has had quite an eventful year so far, from the birth of Prince Louis to the marriage of his younger brother, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle. They will have another chance to celebrate at the christening of Prince Louis in July at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London.
