Erica,
Go ahead and delete what you think needs to be removed from Mary's profile== maybe leave the "Miner's descent" http... site info & make a note about the "Miner's descent" site's info being incorrect or something??? You are better at that than I am...

Maybe put an intro paragraph about the confusion with the Andover vs Newbury Browns/Brownes & Johnsons???

I did notice that the wikitree site has that Mary Browne (Johnson) was the dtr of John Johnson & Susanna (Munter) Johnson, but I am not sure that that is correct--- I look briefly at some info on Susanna (Munter) Johnson and didn't feel like her info jived with what we know about Mary... Will look more into this tomorrow if you think it is worth the time & effort.

I haven't looked to see if the children are now correct or not for Mary & Francis... This site: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi... looks like it is pretty good... The Coffin/Bartlett book has Benjamin listed, but he would be from the 2nd wife of Francis as Ben was born after Mary died...

Again, thanks for all of the time & effort you have expended on helping to clear up the confusion in this area. I really appreciate it. My computer is old and slow as Methuselah and I don't have access to some of the sites you do or I don't know how to find them...

I had already cross referenced the two different Mary Johnson's, and yours is now a relationship locked profile, so to add a parent, they'll have to go through a curator, who hopefully can read "parents unknown. " :)

Your Mary is not a known daughter of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Johnson-5389 Edward Johnson and Susannah Munter; despite what it might show on her Wikitree profile, the list of children in his biography is accurate. FYI marriages were very local at that time, and Woburn MA is not so close to Newbury. If she wasn't from Newbury it would be a 10 mile radius: elswhere on Cape Ann only. And I think she "was" from Newbury; or an emigrant to Newbury from England; or a widow Johnson.

In any event you won't find her in an online tree. There are no vital records that early (you have the marriage record) so it's scholarly work to reconstruct and make a "best case" scenario from more indirect evidence. And it doesn't appear anyone has done that so far.

Coffin was the town clerk for Newbury and one of the best of them, so if anyone has reference, it might be him. The other place to look is in Sidney Perley's Essex Antiquarian.

Looking at the overview again, I would recommend erasing it all except for the Coffin book and the vital records. Even the Rootsweb has born in USA for children born a hundred years before USA, wince, who needs this. :). And your correction to Coffin of course!

Mary Browne, of Newbury overview is updated.

Erica,
Thanks sooooooo much!!! It looks great! You are awesome! :=)

My pleasure. I did review the children profiles and Abigail is a ? But most of the children are not in the Newbury Vital Records either, so I'm inclined to leave be for now.

The lesson, I think, is that we on Geni are experienced enough to try for more primary source records instead of relying on tertiary compilations. There are however good published studies in this era (and some bad ones), the task is evaluating source validity by reconciling, and not be afraid to make our own narratives.
