Email from Geni.com:
To continue your import, you must review the match and confirm it (which will connect your tree to other branches already on Geni), reject it (if the match appears incorrect) or you may skip the import on this branch.

View the matches for Margaret Mary Wells

When I click the link and try to match and confirm, I just get the screen with the Geni-Pro ad. Not able to merge. How can I bypass/avoid the blessed advertisement screen?

Thank you
Brenda

The first merge from your GEDCOM import you should be able to find, the others are a little more complicated.
If the merge is with a public profile you can use Google to find it (add site:geni.com/people to your name search like if the merge was on your own profile in Google you should use Brenda Ruth Pedersen site:geni.com/people to search)
If the last name is rather unique you can try to find the profile from https://www.geni.com/surnames

I did the google search for Margaret Mary Wells as per your instructions, and found the profile. But am unable to merge/resolve the issue. I just get the upgrade to Free Pro Trial screen.

Is there a limit on tree merges for Basic memberships? As is, I am basically unable to further my gedcom import because the screens don't allow me to get to the merge screen.

Most disappointed... If the premise of Geni is to create a world connect tree, then we should be allowed, as simply and cheaply as possible, to create said tree.

Private,

If you found the other profile you can merge them.
There are different ways to do it:
On the profile page for the profile you found you can do it from the actions menu of that profile.
In tree view you can go to your profile and click on the profile and from the side menu choose more and move your profile. Then in tree view go to the other profile and drag your profile on top of it to merge.
I'm not not familiar enough with the English documentation to point you to the exact pages, but I know there is documentation to explain how it can be done.
If you still have problems you may find better help in this discussion: https://www.geni.com/discussions/192543

Working as a basic user is a bit more complicated so the learning curve is steep, but it helps a lot is you collaborate with other users. The Geni search screen will allow you to go to profiles managed by users with which you collaborate without showing you the pay wall for PRO user. So if you collaborate with others that work in your part of the tree you won't have to go through an external search for those profiles.
