No, isolated tree with inactive manager. Not worth the job,

William Niller Carlisle parents show as Edmond Carlile and Elizabeth Whatley

William Niller Carlisle are Robert Carlisle and Sarah Carlisle

Both are Geni married to Elizabeth Carlisle and they are parents of John Wesley Carlile while there is a private zombie wife Elizabeth Evans and I am wondering if anyone is familiar with these perhaps two different lines?
I have made some requests to kill the zombies. Does anyone have sources for two different men with similar names or are they indeed the same but needs a set of parents removed?

That William Niller Carlile may be William Miller Carlisle.
One of them needs disconnected from Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Carlisle is shown as wife of William Niler in Smart Matches/public trees. Disconnecting from William Niller and still looking for sources for him

Which leaves John Wesley to separate from WIlliam Niller. His wife is Martha Carlile
He is showing as half brother to Richard Carlile who needs made public.

So now we have a "new" wife for John Wesley Carlile Nancy Carlile

and this should help to differentiate/figure out if is the SAME John because the FAG memorial does not give parents and William Niler Carlile, Sr's FAG memorial does not give parents or children except William Niler Jr.

Nice find though and I have added them as well as making another request in the Zombie Discussion

Someone has suggested disconnecting the parents and work that way then add back whoever is correct.
I wish more managers were active...

There's a will. Enlisting some more help if possible.

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 that was an easy one.
First, they are already connected in the tree.. so the duplicates and unmerged are creating problems.

The private Elizabeth Evans matches the public one.. so I unlnked the private one to get her out of the way. GENI will later bring her as a possible duplicate to the public one, and if the person who created the private one is still around, they can decide to make public and request a merge. Otherwise, that profile was linked to the exact same kids as the public one (you can see when you click on Descendants at the bottom of the merge window).

So then I merged the Elizabeth (Unknown) with Elizabeth Evans, since the unknown was a single profile only connected to the husband. Later you find couples divorcing.. so 1st and 2nd wives can have same birth and death dates, but in this case, Elizabeth unknown wasn't doing anything.

Maybe she signified that Elizabeth Evans wasn't the actual name, but that is something for further research.

The next step is unlink the kids from the duplicate parent of Private Elizabeth & Unknown (since she was unlinked from husband).. and the kids are then settled.

For William's duplicate parents, I did some searching and the only thing that shows is a wikitree profile with Robert/Rudolph and Sarah..

So, I unlinked the other parent set because they weren't linked to anyone else... so if it turns out that THEY were the actual parents and wikitree and some other sites were wrong,, then that will be found out as people move past William into his parents' generation.

Think of GENI as permanent work in progress. Right now the goal was solve the wife problem, and get the kids connected. The parents only matter when someone is actually moving past them.

oh, And because I could only find 1 reference to a William Niler Carlisle (and Carlile is a common phonetic match)AND they had the same exact kids and wife..I merge them and then work out which parent.

Here was the only definitive info on the parents..

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Carlile-443

as you can see, there is some confusion about spelling, since even at the WT profile it alternatives between Carlile and Carlisle depending on whoever created the parent, wife, siblings, and kids profiles.

This is a good family group to work on creating a standard, and then put the other in AKA field.

I found some Cox family member in NE,, where there was a well researched genealogy showing when specific people began using Cox, Coxe, Cock, Coke, and Cocks and their later descendants. .

Dean Richard Hobart thank you so much!
Some of the private and Zombies were fixed so that definitely helped! So thank you to the curators at the various Discussions for that!
Diana Collins was able to find some FAG memorials so that helped to be able to have some sort of framework to put the puzzle pieces on...

Thank you for all your help, Dean. I appreciate it immensely

I will be going back to the original DNA match who is here on Geni and follow her line up again and see if there are continued/other/additional issues... the weeds keep one from being able to follow the branches ;)

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 well just remember that the DNA "match" only means that GENI puts your DNA on the "appropriate" people who are already in your tree (Y to males through dad line, M to females through mom, etc..). it doesn't prove anything. Following the DNA will see which profiles were part of her tree... but I think that once profiles get unlinked, the program automatically removes the DNA marker.

Like a profile was supposed to be a 10-grandparent of mine in a potential match... but once I merged and then unlinked some that didn't make sense in the group due to being born 10 years after parent's died, etc,,, I no longer got that connection, and the person was a 10th cousin 5 times removed of a great aunt's 7th great grandparent, or something.

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 Also, when you come across a private "Zombie". I just unlink them. If they are attached to public profiles, with additional people, I first move those profiles to be part of the tree.. like a child of the public husband, or a parent of a sibling.... so that they will remain with the family group when I unlink the private one.

Typically, you can see the name of the private one in the tree. or when you go into the relationship tab in the profile edit.. to make sure it';s the same person as the public one attached. If not, then I just create a new profile and name it that person and put the dates I can see. Then I move profiles, and unlike the zombie.

What that does is Geni then sees the zombie as a potential dupl.icate and asks if you want to merge... and if you say yes, it sends a request to the manager... since it is private. If they are no longer around nothing really ever happens. If they are, then it makes them make public to merge.

I find it's quicker just to do it than ask and wait and have the tree messed up during the wait. Plus you now are a mgr on the new profiles to that group.

Dean Richard Hobart by DNA match on any given discussion here in Geni, I am more likely to be referring to a third to 5th cousin match that I have elsewhere but I will be really happy when Geni does resume their DNA matching...
I usually tree build here to make a bridge to my knows in order to help find my unknowns... I am almost to that point where I am only working to break a brick wall. Not quite there yet

And I tend to be much more careful with a line that has those pesky privates showing but little info... When it comes to additional parents needing merged, I WILL go and disconnect THAT parent once I HAVE a merge request in place.

I believe folks make them private because they are DNA but not official (NPE but proven as parents... such as with the DNA lines in slave situations...) or it is because people don't know or if it is a default. I do not like that I can select male deceased then parent or spouse relationship when I add a profile and Geni will kicked out the living status ... so many hard stops... tree building with a goal in sight is different from cleaning up an area of the tree in that sometimes the good stuff is in that mess lol
