Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 - the reversal on the Embrys has been started.

Emily Kent Marget thank you

I accidentally merged two profiles that I'm not sure represent the same person. Would somebody please unmerge? Thanks.

Southward Thurman Segars, Sr.

I'm trying to move one profile onto another, because they represent the same person. Both profiles are public, and everything looks normal, but I get a pop-up message that says, "This person cannot be merged with her husband." No explanation. What's going on?

Well, you cannot merge a husband and wife because by definition they cannot be the same person.

So if the two profiles are duplicates you have to break the marriage connection first then merge them.

Merge reversed

Thanks for fixing it.

Oh, I see I didn't express myself properly at all. Sorry. The thing is that there are duplicate profiles for the husband, Ira. I moved one of the Ira profiles onto the other, then got the message I mentioned. Geni won't let me merge Ira with Ira. I tried three or four times.

Maja Lange

I looked at the view centered on Ira Segars - I don't know if it is the Ira you refer to.
https://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000089149444828

That branch is a mess - many bery similar profiles, with silightly (or less slightly) differences in dates (which may be a result of inaccurate documentation or interpretation).

For example, Southward Thurman Segars (|Ira's father) is marries to 4 wives,
3 of them named Sara:
Sarah "Sally" Jackson (1756 Georgia - 1805 North Carolina) - mother of John Segars
Sarah "Sally" Unk (1774 North Carolina - 1805 North Carolina) - mother of John Segars
Sarah "Sally" Jackson (1779 North Carolina - 1803 North Carolina) - mother of Ira Segars

I suggest you start a profile discussion on one of the involved profiles, with the relevant managers and curators, to resolve all issues which are beyond the focus of this general discussion.

Dear curators
I have made a mistake while editing my grandpa's (Aleksander Ilves) profile: https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=84215949950
"merge of Aleksander Ilves into Liidia Ilves"
Is it possible to cancel it?
Kindest regards
Liidia Ilves

Done, please check.

We need to recover from an unjustified merger:

Today I got a popup requesting me to point out the correct parents of @Cornelis Gerritz Visser, and later for his wife @Geertje de Waart. Naively I obliged. But when I looked at the result, the two of them suddenly had a lot more children than they should have! I had already noticed that in the merger dialog, but that did not provide an option to delete non-genuine children (only parents).

Now it appears there is another couple @Cornelis Visser (but not a Gerritsz) and @Geertje de Waart, living contemporary in the same location, and these somehow got merged. The merging might have already occurred before my interference, being responsible for the fact that Cornelis and Gerrit each had 4 parents. Anyway, The Cornelis, son of @Pieter Cornelisz Visser and @Eefje Appel, as well as the Geertje, daughter of @Tijs Cornelisz de Waart and @Neeltje (Admiraal) Roos no longer existed at that point. I recreated those, and even recreated a second version of Geertje as a wife of Cornelis in an attempt to marry them, but I did not know how to collapse these two Geertjes into one. And even then the problem would remain that their children were all 'stolen' by the other couple, and I am not sure how to steal them back.

Things are really thoroughly messed up!

(I accidentally placed this message also in a new discussion, but I repost it here out of fear it will otherwise stay unnoticed.)

Dear Jessica,
Thanks for your help! Now my great-grandparents are marked as my parents and my grandparents as my siblings:). Is it possible to correct or to delete the data? I tried to fix it myself but couldn't change anything. I am (Liidia Ilves) Aleksander Ilves' s grand-daughter, not his sister.
Many thanks in advance!
Liidia Ilves

I'll look at it.
Please do not make anymore changes in that part of the tree till I'm finished.

If you can write in Dutch please try to use the https://www.geni.com/discussions/96982 when the profiles are in the Dutch part of the tree. It also helps to give links to the profiles (the @ can select the wrong profile when there are multiple profiles with the same name)

Also when you make a merging mistake please do NOT try to correct this yourself. please ask for help and to not make changes in that part of the tree till the problem is fixed.

There are a lot of good free sources for the Dutch part of the tree, so please add them if you add profiles. That makes it much easier to correct any mistakes.

Harm Geert Müller I think I corrected most problems, please check (use personal message if you need more help)

This can be fixed. Check your inbox for a message from me.

Thank you.

Inés Iñiguez de Mendoza is showing as my GGM, but I'm boggled by that because her only child is showing as my aunt. How does that even happen?

Hi! Can I request an unmerge of Mary Ann Whaley from today? I improvidently granted a merge request which, upon reflection, should not have been granted. I am a direct descendant. Thank you! John

Mary Ann Whaley

John Edward Thomas, Jr.
Unmerged, but now - what about their children having multiple children?
Elizabeth R. "Betsy" Whaley
William Manley Whaley

Thank you! I'll put them back with their correct parents.

Hello,

Can you please undo a merge I made by mistake on this profile:
Beila Malka Hochhaus

Thanks!
Jonathan

I hope everyone is staying cool. I came across this profile connected to 2 sets of parents, one of which died about 20 years before she was born in the 1600s. For some reason, Geni doesn't let me fix. They weren't private but now they seem to be halfway private/public.

Thanks
Ann Nancy Knox

Dean Richard Hobart the one set removed

At some point something went wrong with this chain that I started merging here:
https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000007331529662

It looks like the last one I merged was at least one generation wrong. I don't know what's correct and what's wrong, but it's porbably best to unmerge the whole chain until someone has time to unpick the components and correct the errors before merging.

Private User one of the recent merges undone. Check if you need more undone.
