Biography

Abigail Vinson, the daughter of William Vinson and Rachel (Varney) (Cooke) (Langton) Vinson, was born 28 May 1668, in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts.[1]

On 5 July 1686 Abigail married Jacob Elwell in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts.[2]

On 24 July 1714 in Gloucester, Abigail Elwell, widow of Jacob Elwell and only surviving child of William Vinson, along with her children Rachel Elwell (wife of Peter Lurvey), Abigail Elwell Junr, Sarah and Hannah Elwell, sold property in Gloucester that she had inherited from her father.[3]

Abigail died sometime before November 1743, when her children "Rachel Day alias Lurvey alias Elwell, widow of John Day, late of Gloucester, Ebenezer and Sarah Roberts of Falmouth, co. York, John and Hannah Brown of Falmouth, Joseph and Mary Brown of Gloucester and Joseph and Abigail Foster of Kingston, N.H. conveyed to William Elwell of Falmouth all claims to the estate of William Vincent or Vinson, potter, their grandfather, the estate of Jacob Elwell, their father, or the estate of Abigail Elwell, their mother, widow of Jacob Elwell and daughter of William Vincent".[4]
