Adolphus Simmons

Adolphus D. Simmons was born June 25, 1824, in Rutherford, N.C. to Squire Simmons and Levicy Hunt Simmons. He married Sarah Catherine Garren, daughter of John M. and susan Garren, on August 22, 1850, in Gilmer county, Georgia. Their children were Suanna Levisa Simmons m. Obitaury in Lincoln Sentinel, July 7, 1904 Adolphus Simmons Adolphus Simmons of Barnard, about 80 years of age, died Sunday afternoon [July 3] at his home, and was buried on Monday afternoon. He was one of Barnard's most respected citizens. He was quiet and retired in disposition but he was always public spirited and ready to push along public enterprises. He was the father of 11 children, nine of whom are living and were present at his bedside as he passed away. His faithful wife also lives to mourn his departure. Eight of his children live in the vicinity of Barnard, and one in Wyoming. All are industrious and prosperous citizens. Rev. Barber conducted the funeral services.
