"Daveron, Alice (née Hamilton), 1861-1888 Born at Martray in Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland in 1861, Alice arrived in New Zealand at age 18 on board the Lady Jocelyn in 1878 in the employ of Capt. Mervyn Stewart and Frances Stewart (née Vesey). She married Westby Percival Daveron (c. 1862-1932) in Auckland on 22 July 1882. Alice died at Avondale in Auckland, at the age of 26 on 17 June 1888 and was buried in St Ninians Cemetery in Avondale. Her 18-month-old son Thomas had died the month before. It is though that Alice’s sister Margaret went to Auckland to help care for her children after her death. Margaret and Westby married in Auckland on 4 November 1889."
