About Annie Robbie Ferguson

It's not yet know how Annie died, or whether she was married or had children.

Her headstone that has been drawn(see images) suggests her surname was still Ferguson although this isn't to be taken as confirmed. The year of death on the drawing is also different to what information was passed down. Roy Jackson, Duncan Ferguson(unrelated researcher from Cathcart, now deceased) and Charlie all noted her date of death as 29/10/1934, yet the drawing which is presumably from nearer the time, and states 1936.

The drawing of the grave is noted to have been drawn by Charles' wife Kate(previously assumed to be her brother Charles aka Fella, although his wife was Ann), who we now know is Annie Robbie Ferguson's Uncle and Auntie. In 1919 Charles Bennett died, so if in 1934/6 the wife Kate Bennett(nee Hornly) drew the grave in Northern Rhodesia, it's also likely that Kate buried her, and possibly lived with/near her.

On Charles' will, in 1916, it notes that Annie Robbie was living with Charles and Kate of 'Pongo Farm, Shangani' (where they also married) when he wrote the will, but on his DN, his noted residence is Rooikop, Zoutpansberg, now Limpopo but died in Johannesberg. The same Pongo Farm address was written in Annie's brother's diary as Annie was noted as a next of kin. Think address is thought to have been written 1914/1915 suggesting Annie lived with her uncle for at least 5 years but could have been with the family to home school the children as they later moved to Swaziland especially for education.

In 1923, in Kimberley, there is a 'Annie B(or R) Ferguson' who witnesses the baptism of Margaret Kruger(nee Ferguson) and her son Andrew John Douglas Ferguson, the daughter and newly born grandson of our original Andrew John Douglas Ferguson. Margaret Kruger was the cousin(7 years younger) of Annie Robbie. This may have been Annabel Hendricks.

Alice Ward's grandson Roy Jackson has said that 'I can only surmise that she was there because of her brother. Whenever we heard of her it was usually in some mail or news from Charles Ferguson.'

Charles emigrated to Bulawayo, Rhodesia(Southern/Zimbabwe) in 1930, did Annie originally move with them? Did she live with or near them? She died in Choma, Rhodesia(Northern/Zambia), based on Google Maps, a 7 hour drive from Bulawayo. It's more likely that she was living with/near her Auntie Kate as mentioned above.
