About Bertha Kline

Mrs. Bertha Weidenthal Kline, member of a pioneer Cleveland Jewish family, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at her home, 949 E. 141st Street, at the age of eighty-three years.

Mrs. Kline, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Weidenthal, was born in Hungary, but came to Cleveland with her parents as a child. The family's first Cleveland home was on E. 9th Street, near Bolivar Road, and Mrs. Kline was enrolled in the first class at the Rockwell School building, erected at E. 6th Street at Rockwell Avenue in 1808.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Kline was the last surviving member of her class. On Feb. 25, she and her husband, Adolph, would have celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Kline is survived by three sons, Edward W., of Philadelphia, Dudley L. and Emanuel M. Kline, all of whom are engaged in the ladies garment industry. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Edward A., Joan, Richard and Robert Kline, one brother, Leo Weidenthal, editor of the Jewish Independent, and three sisters, Mrs. Celia Glick of Chicago, Miss Lillie Weidenthal and Mrs. Evelyn Sperling.

Funeral services were conducted at the J. D. Deutsch Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 12, Rabbi Silver officiating. Pallbearers were: Nathan Rosenborg, Aaron Salzman, Sol Kline, Louis DiCicco, Al Salzman and David Sperling. Interment was at Fir Street Cemetery.
